Operation Threshold is collecting school supplies for low-income families in Grundy County. Donated supplies must be dropped off at Operation Threshold by Friday, August 7th, 2020 (please call 319-824-3460 to schedule an appointment to drop off donations)

If your family is in need of school supplies, you can download an application here or call Operation Threshold to request an application by mail or schedule an appointment to pick one up at the office. Applications to receive school supplies must be received at Operation Threshold by Friday, August 7th.
Distribution of supplies to households in need will be August 12th & 13th.

Disaster Assistance For Black Hawk County Flood Victims Available At Operation Threshold

Governor Kim Reynolds has issued a proclamation of disaster emergency for Black Hawk County in response to a severe storm June 20, 2020 and continuing. The Governor’s proclamation allows State resources to be utilized to respond to and recover from the effects of the severe storms and flooding. The proclamation activates the Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program for qualifying residents, along with the Disaster Case Management Program. Residents with damage resulting from the severe storm occurring on June 20, 2020 have 45 days from the date of the proclamation, or until August 10, 2020, to submit an application to Operation Threshold. Operation Threshold Receives $10,000 Grant from Bayer Fund

Operation Threshold announced today it received a grant for $10,000 from Bayer Fund, which will be used to purchase food to help stock the Grundy County Food Pantry. The food will be distributed to low-income Grundy County households in need of food to supplement their monthly food budget or those in need of emergency food assistance. With many people working from home — and possibly answering calls from unfamiliar phone numbers, be aware these might be from a robocaller or scammer. Operation Threshold will be taking general applications for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) beginning November 1, 2019.
Households with elderly or disabled residents and/or those with a disconnect notice may be able to apply early, beginning October 1, 2019.

Operation Threshold will be taking limited applications for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) beginning November 2, 2015. Each applicant will need to provide proof of social security for all household members (unless proof is already on file with Operation Threshold). Applicants will also need to bring proof of all household members’ gross income for the past three months and copies of their most recent heating and electric bills.

WIC Announces New Income Guidelines WATERLOO- Operation Threshold’s WIC program implemented new income guidelines on May 1st. These income guidelines are 185% of the federal poverty guidelines and are updated annually. Applicants with a gross income equal to, or less than, than the amounts listed are income eligible for WIC services. The Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) is a program available in every county in Iowa and throughout all 50 states.

This year the annual Charity Barn Dance will be held Saturday, January 26, 2013 at the Electric Park Ballroom. Each year the Barn Dance offers members of the community a chance to dance while benefitting local community service agencies.

Grundy County Share The Warmth Coat Drive Begins

Due to economic changes, many individuals and children in Grundy County are in need of new and gently used winter outerwear. Operation Threshold’s Share the Warmth program helps meet this need. Donations of new or gently used winter items including coats, snow pants, boots, hats, and mittens/gloves are now being accepted by Operation Threshold.

Grundy County, Iowa (October 3, 2011): Between March 1st and April 30th, Operation Threshold participated in the Feinstein Challenge with the goal of increasing donations to the Grundy County Food Pantry. Thanks to our generous donors and the Feinstein Foundation Challenge, Operation Threshold’s Grundy County Food Pantry took in more than twice the donations between March 1st and April 30th, when compared to previous months.
